Primary schools in counties Cork & Kerry can use this page to see our co-Founder Conor Ó Buachalla's availability to visit your primary school under the Heritage in Schools Scheme

As an enthusiastic dinnseanchaí or local storyteller, Conor Ó Buachalla specialises in unveiling the rich layers of Irish placenames, folklore, through stories and classroom presentations. He also loves to use words from the Irish language to paint a vivid image of Ireland’s cultural landscape and history.

Booking is a two step process

Check Conor's availability using the calendar on this page and submit a request for him to visit your school.
Once the date and lesson is agreed with Conor, the school then have to submit a request here through the Heritage in Schools Scheme which is normally approved in 48hrs.

Costs to School

Schools must pay their contribution to the Heritage Specialist for each visit and the balance is paid by the Heritage in Schools Scheme.

The cost to the school for a full day visit at the school are

Primary School €100
Primary School DEIS €60

Payment

If you are sure of your dates, the school can pay by card in advance of Conor's visit using the booking engine in Step 1

Use the code PayonDay in the Promo Code box of booking engine to complete the visit request. Payment can then made on the day of Conor's visit.

Please note

The Heritage in Schools Scheme provides a panel of Heritage Specialists such as Conor who visit primary schools to help children and their teachers learn about and appreciate their local heritage. The Scheme supports the stated aims and objectives of the Social, Scientific and Environmental Education (SESE) curriculum and provides an additional educational tool and resource for teachers.

Get a Free Visit with Conor?

For every four visits booked with the same Heritage Specialist, the school is entitled to a fifth visit free.

What Schools are covered?

This experience is delivered at primary schools in either Co. Cork or Co. Kerry.
- If you are from a school outside these counties and really want Conor to visit your school, he may be able to facilitate a multi-day visit. Make contact with Conor directly but be aware that you may additional travel costs.
